APRIL 7TH: THE MODERNISTS OF KENSINGTON, JOURNEY INTO THE VORTEX (LANCASTER GATE) - SPECIAL GUEST WALK BY ALEXIS THOMPSON

From the decadence of the fin de siècle to the mechanised, wholesale slaughter of The Great War, writer A.R Thompson leads four literary walks into the heart of the ‘vortex’. The spiritus mundi of London in the years leading up to the First World War that inspired the giants of Modernism to redefine artistic values. 


   Amid the sun-dappled mews of Kensington, we will explore the historical and biographical elements forming the social and artistic circles that would become Imagism, Vorticism.  


   Looking at Beckett, Yeats, Pound, Woolf Eliot, HD, Lewis and Joyce, Journey into the Vortex promises to explore how the time spent in Kensington shaped the lives and work of these great poets.

MEET OPPOSITE LANCASTER GATE STATION AT THE ITALIAN WATER GARDENS. 
The walk will begin at 2pm, and will conclude near Notting Hill Gate station. Tickets are £10, Please click her to purchase.
